Our Ballet classes are taught based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus and is graded roughly by age groups and ability. Ballet focuses on building correct technique, musicality and strength to further develop all other styles of dance. We focus on discipline and respect and request our students follow our strict uniform and tie their hair back into a neat ballet bun. From Intermediate level up, we work towards our pointe work and offer pointe classes and strengthening classes for our more serious dancers.
Jazz classes are our time to get down and get funky! Miss Nicole loves dancing to pop songs on the radio now, and makes sure all classes are age appropriate and that everyone works hard on their strength and technique while still having fun. Our Jazz classes begin with warm-up and strengthening work, corner work such as turns, kicks and leaps and then we learn a funky routine that we can practice and perfect for the following week. We have a strong technique base, and for our Intermediate and Senior classes we offer variations in our classes such as Theatre Jazz and Commercial Jazz.
Our Tap classes are for your noisy ones who can't stop moving their feet! We use our Tap- Dancing Shoes to strike the floor as a form of percussion and learn rhythms to make short routines weekly. They are open classes, which means we learn something new and different every week as well as perfecting our routine exercises. Tap focuses on counting, musicality and timing and offers a great variation from the other styles.
Our Lyrical classes are a combination of Ballet and Jazz styles and is offered from Junior levels upwards and focus on free and expressive movement. Lyrical involves floor work such as rolling, stretching and improvisation. We focus on the expression of strong emotion and move at a slower pace then Jazz, but more freedom than Ballet.
Hip-hop is for our B-Boys and Girls who like to breakdance, pop, lock and jam! Every week we focus on basic Hip-Hop technique and progress into styles such as popping, locking and break dance. We love freestyle and watching the kids move in their own way to the music as well as learning and perfecting routines every week while adding their own individual flavour and swag!
Acrobatics is a gymnastic based classed and is mixture of dance and gymnastics without the use of apparatus. In Acrobatics students will work on strengthening and flexibility work, as well as perfecting basic acro skills such as forward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, handstands and preparation for flips.
For our most dedicated students we offer them the opportunity to perform solos, duos and group performances at local Fetes, Competitions and Events. Students must participate in two classes a week with one being a Ballet or Lyrical class in order to participate in our Elite Group and auditions come around once per year for your chance to be involved!
